Edesia 2022 – New Kids on the Wine Block

In case you missed the explosive growth of the Grand Valley AVA* while you were hunkered down during the Pandemic, you can catch up at Edesia: A Palisade Culinary, Wine & Spirits Adventure on Sunday, April 24 fro 11 am to 4 pm at Wine Country Inn in Palisade.                              That’s where wine and food lovers can mix and mingle with new winery operators and new owners of established wineries as well as to taste new wines paired with exquisite cuisine, says WCI General Manager Ian Kelley.

Edesia is sponsored by FCI Constructors, Inc. with Alpine Bank to benefit MarillacHealth, which provides medical, dental and behavioral healthlcare for uninsured and underinsured patients in Mesa County

“Our theme New Kids on the Wine Block reflects many changes in our industry and our neighborhood,” he explains. “We thought Edesia would be an ideal venue for locals to catch up early in the season.”

To illustrate the growth, Kelley points to Ordinary Fellow. Sauvage Spectrum, Carboy and Vines79 as recent wineries in Palisade in the past few years. There also have been changes in ownership at Maison la Belle Vie, Whitewater Hill, Mesa Park and Grande River Vineyards, to name a few. Meanwhile, established wineries like Plum Creek, Dubuque Canyon, Colterris, Talon, Red Fox, and Talbots have continued to introduce inventive new wines to their lines.

“This is an exciting time to be in the Grand Valley. Our wines just get better and better, and so does the food, ” he emphasizes. “The same terroir that produces great wines enriches our local crops and creates an unparalleled field to fork cuisine here.”

Along with the wines, Edesia will offer tastes of beer, spirits and ciders and samples from new food vendors who are also populating the wine scene. Local artists will be performing live music all day during the event.

Tickets are available through a secure link on the website EdesiaPalisade.com at $65 per person and $75 per person at the door.

Because of its great popularity, the organizers have expanded individual Edesia components into separate events later in the year. Instead of staging a luncheon preceding the food and wine exposition, WCI Executive Chef Chad Griffith will design a special wine dinner menu around the participants’ wines at the Inn on July 16, while Grande River Vineyards and Talon Wine Brands will co-host a Live in the Grapevines Concert on August 20.

“By making this a stand alone dinner, we can slow down and take our time exploring the nuances of the wines and how the flavor profiles of the food enhance the whole tasting experience,” Chef Griffith reasons.

More details about the New Kids Wine Dinner and the  Live in the Grapevines Concert will be available closer to the time of those events. Check the website and social media later.

Media Sponsors for Edesia 2022 include KKCO11News, Magic 93.1, The Vault 100.7, The Business Times, Eagle River Assoc. and Suzi Productions. Other sponsors will be listed on the website.

Wine Country Inn is located at 777 Grande River Drive off Palisade Exit 42.
